    Introduction to the Future Missions Preparation Office
    The Future Missions Preparation Office (SRE-F) is responsible for the formal Agency studies, and for the technology preparation, of science missions that have been selected as candidates for the Cosmic Vision and Robotic Exploration Programmes.

    Recently Completed Studies

    Planetary Entry Probes (PEP) for Venus and Outer Planets 28 July 2010 An assessment study of planetary entry probes has been performed at ESA's Concurrent Design Facility to consolidate the knowledge about entry conditions at Venus, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, and to identify the required technologies to enter the atmosphere and perform measurement down to 100 bar levels.     Space-Time Explorer (STE) 26 July 2010 An assessment study has been completed at ESA's Concurrent Design Facility, to examine the possible architecture and implementation of a fundamental physics mission, which would set out to test Einstein's theories of special and general relativity by comparing high-precision atomic clocks in space and on ground.     Exoplanet Spectroscopy Mission (ESM) 18 May 2010 An assessment study of an Exoplanet Spectroscopy Mission has been performed at ESA's Concurrent Design Facility to examine the possible architecture and implementation of a mission that sets out to investigate the atmospheres of transiting exoplanets.
