    Orbit View

The below set of features provide an overview of the different parts of Cassini-Huygens' orbit from launch to arrival at Saturn, as well as during the nominal four-year period of exploring the Saturnian system. The release of the Huygens probe and its descent through Titan's atmosphere are also covered, with a video of real data gathered during the descent and an animation of the probe after landing on Titan.

    Travel to Saturn
Interactive feature of Cassini-Huygens' orbit from launch (15 October 1997) until Saturn arrival (1 July 2004). The 3200 million kilometre long interplanetary trajectory to reach Saturn included four gravity assist manoeuvres: twice at Venus, once at Earth and once at Jupiter.

Saturn Orbit Insertion and Huygens Probe Release
Interactive feature of the first orbits around Saturn for the period 1 July 2004 to 4 March 2005. This period includes the Huygens probe release on 25 December 2004 and its subsequent descent through Titan's atmosphere on 14 January 2005.

    Huygens Probe Descent
This movie, created with data collected during Huygens' mission at Titan, shows the four-hour operation of the DISR camera during descent up to touch-down. The central portion of the display shows how Titan appeared, with on either side detailed animated information of different descent parameters.

    Huygens on Titan
Animation showing the Huygens probe on Titan's surface after a successful descent through the moon's atmosphere on 14 January 2005. Note the methane vapour that is released from the surface below the probe's landing site.

    Cassini Tour of Saturn
Animation of Cassini's nominal tour of the Saturnian system from July 2004 (arrival at Saturn) up to July 2008 (nominal mission end). The tour is divided into several segments which are indicated with different colours in this animation.
